Pursuant to the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act, Public Law Number 106-102, and the rule issued by the Federal Trade Commission regarding the Privacy of Consumer Financial Information, 16 CFR 313, Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation can fit the definition of a “financial institution” and is, therefore, required by law to provide written notice to its customers regarding its policy of disclosing their non-public personal information to third parties. Carroll Electric does not disclose any non-public personal information about its customers to anyone except as required by law or authorized by specific customers. Carroll Electric restricts access to non-public personal information about its customers to its employees, contractors, or agents who need to know the information in order to perform their jobs. Carroll Electric maintains physical and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect consumer’s non-public personal information.
