Weather data and your energy usage

Weather patterns can positively or negativley affect your electric bill.  Understanding what to do when the temperature is extremely high or extremely low, can save you a lot of energy and money.  Below we have provided some information to help you understand your usage in the different temperatures we experience in the Ozarks.  For example, during extremely hot months your air conditioner will run more to remove the heat in your home, especially during the hottest part of the day.  During winter months as temperatures drop during the night, your heating unit runs more often to keep you warm.  Extreme cold weather can also cause auxiliary heat strips to operate more frequently.  This, of course, increases consumption as well.

Energy Tips:
  • During the summer months we suggest setting your air conditioner thermostat to 78 degrees to maximize your energy effiency.
  • During the winter months we suggest setting your heating thermostat to 68 degress to maximize energy effiency.
To see the weather data directly related to the dates of your billing period, find the billing "CYCLE" in the lower portion of your bill, under the DATE OF BILL field.
